Looking for a place to call home? You are always welcome in the Catholic Church. This is an invitation to all, both baptized Catholics looking to complete their sacraments and those looking for a Faith to call home.
Find out the answers to questions you have had, or to learn the truth about the Catholic Faith. The Rite of Christian Initiation is a journey that begins with answering your questions and ends with full communion with the Catholic Church. If you want to receive no-commitment answers to your questions e-mail rcia@amadorcatholics.org or call Lisa Tavano-Hall at 916-296-7121. We will begin meeting on Monday, April 30th at 6:30 pm at the Parish Center at 11361 Prospect drive in Martell.
“Go and make disciples of all nations.”
Have you considered how to do that? Consider RCIA.
The Holy Spirit is alive and moving quickly in our midst. He is sending people to us every month looking for answers to questions about God and Faith; looking to come into communion with the Catholic Church.
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is not just about “being a teacher.” Yes, we need catechists - a lot of them. However, there are many roles to play. Nor, is it always about committing to a weekly meeting. Lent is about discernment on many levels. We are called to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We are also called to look inside and ask ourselves, honestly, am I fulfilling my baptismal promise? Your baptism cleanses you from original sin, calls you to die with Christ and rise again with him in his resurrection. Yet, there is much more. It is not just a moment of grace and intimacy with God. It is a lifetime of conversion. It is a call to discipleship. At the Easter Vigil, we will witness people coming into the Church and receiving the sacraments. We will be asked to renew our baptismal vows this Easter. Don’t just renew them in words. Renew them in deeds. Paul tells us we are each a part of the body, the ear cannot function without the eyes. What part of the Body of Christ are you? Is this your call, but you don’t know what to do?
The Bishops have given us the call: “The initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized. Therefore the community must always be fully prepared in the pursuit of its apostolic vocation to give help to those who are searching for Christ.” The Parish RCIA team needs parishioners who can:
What role could you play? We are called to make disciples of all nations. The catechumenate (the process of RCIA) is an ancient process that the Church uses to help people on their journey of faith. It is an awesome experience to walk as Jesus did alongside these disciples and “starting with Moses, interpret for them what refers to Him in all the scriptures.” (Luke 24:27)
